A Greater Democracy Day by Day

A new National Peace Academy was launched at Case Western Reserve University March 2-4, 2009 in Cleveland Ohio.  A mix of of 175 stakeholders from academia, business, government service, education, non-profit, the arts, and grassroots organizations used the Appreciative Inquiry process to discover the abundant talent and resources at hand, to dream and design what this new organization would be like, and to take the first steps to co-create it. A Greater Democracy Day by Day was given as a gift of appreciation and inspiration to each participant.

Sally Mahé represented United Religions Initiative and was able to bring URI's experience in de-centralized organizational design to the planning teams. Teams brimming with expertise and focused energy created prototypes for the different parts of the Academy.  The vibrant organizational design will allow each unique effort, large and small, pre-existing and still to come, to mobilize and amplify their efforts so that  a new powerful voice and social movement for peace, justice and healing will build in strength and resound in the USA and in the world.
